Bernard Barbier is the founder of the cyber security consulting company, BBCyber SA, based in Paris. He advises startups, investment funds and major international groups.
He has had a very intense and diversified professional career.
He is a recognized expert in three strategic areas: Cyber Defense as CISO of a very large international group, Cyber Operations as Technical Director of the DGSE (NSA or GCHQ equivalent) and Nanotechnologies as Director of LETI in Grenoble.
He was recognized by his peers by being elected to the French Academy of Technologies.
For 10 years, Bernard worked at LETI (Laboratory of Electronics and Information Technologies) of CEA Grenoble, where he was appointed Director in 2003. LETI, along with MINATEC (a center of excellence for micro and nanotechnology), is considered one of the world’s leading research laboratories in the field of nanotechnology.
In 2006, the President of the French Republic appointed him LETI Technical Director of the DGSE (Directorate General for External Security), the equivalent of the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA).
In 2014, Bernard was recruited by the CAPGEMINI Group (220,000 employees in 60 countries) to become the Group’s Cyber Security Manager, responsible for internal cyber defense for all CAPGEMINI entities worldwide.
Bernard is one of the French pioneers in cybersecurity and cyber defense. He has more than 25 years of experience in the offensive and defensive fields. In 2007 he was one of the founders of the concept of computer warfare in France and its application in intelligence and computer warfare. His technical expertise and diversified professional experiences have allowed him to totally modernize French technical intelligence and in particular to build the foundations of the French cyber army.
